How Much Water Should I Drink?
Healthy individuals should consume at least half of their body weight in ounces of ionised water every day. So, for example, the average 150 pound person would drink 75 ounces of water per day. If you are involved in any physically demanding activity, this number will go up. Likewise if you are ill or have any serious health issues.
The best time to drink Kangen water is right as you wake up. After fasting and recovering for 6-8 hours, the body needs water. Kangen water, first thing in the morning, will assist your organs in removing waste while optimally hydrating the rest of the body. Drinking alkaline ionised water right as you wake up will have moved the water out of your stomach long before you eat anything.
In fact, drinking alkaline water 20 minutes before a meal will enhance your digestion and absorption of nutrients by improving the production of hydrochloric acid. The hydration also serves to provide the necessary water for digestion and the alkalinity buffers acidic toxic waste products. However, it is worth noting that some experts do not advisable for alkaline water to be consumed with meals – even neutral water is not entirely recommended. These recommendations typically advise for an hours gap between drinking and eating.
A Hangover Cure
In Japan, Kangen water is considered a hangover cure of sorts. The alkaline water consumed with alcoholic beverages neutralises excess acids as the ionisation neutralises free radicals. Any incoming hangover ends up either dampened or eliminated entirely. The water can be conveniently incorporated into these beverages in the form of ice cubes.
Besides the timing mentioned above, it is probably best to drink water constantly throughout the day. You wouldn’t water a plant with a months worth of water only to leave it to dry out for the next 30 days. Keep a glass by your desk which will remind you to sip.
